Banyu Pinaruh which comes from the word
Banyu means water, Pinaruh or Pengruwuh means knowledge
The implementation of Banyu Pinaruh uses flower water (kumkuman). The germs are brought to places where water sources such as showers, Segara, rivers, Beji are believed to be purification or melting mala or mental impurities. There the Hindus clean themselves, wash and bathe. But philosophically Banyu Pinaruh means purifying the mind by using the water of knowledge, as described in the Bhagavadgita literature as follows:
"Abhir gatrani sudyanti manah satyena sudayanti."
That is, the body is cleaned with water while the mind is cleansed by science.
That means Banyu Pinaruh is not just coming to wash your hair or bathe at the beach or water sources. However, the procession intends to cleanse the defilement or darkness of the mind (avidya) inherent in the body of the ummah with knowledge, or bathe in the water of knowledge.
This is following Bhagavadgita IV.36 which reads:
“Fire ced asi papebyah, sarwabheyah papa krt tamah, sarwa jnana peavenaiva vrijinam santarisyasi.”
That means, even though you are the most sinner among humans who have sinned, with the boat of knowledge, you will be able to cross the sea of sin.”
That means Banyu Pinaruh is not only symbolic but following Hindu teachings. “Through bathing and shampooing using the water of knowledge, you will be free from the sea of ignorance and sin. Banyu Pinaruh is celebrated after Rahina Saraswati. Banyu Pinaruh comes from the word Banyu which means water (life) and Pinaruh which comes from the word Weruh or Pinih Weruh. Weruh means knowledge, so it can be said that Banyu Pinaruh is the day we ask for the water of knowledge. Banyu Pinaruh is the starting point of the Wuku period in Bali, so it would be very good if before we start a new period and before we fill ourselves with knowledge, it would be nice we clean this body with holy water (Penglukatan). Mentioned in Manawa Dharmasastra Book V. 109
Adbhirgatrani Cuddhyanti Manah Satyena Cuddhyati, Widyatapobhyam Bhutatma, Buddhir Jnanena Cuddhyati.
Meaning: The body is cleansed with water, the mind is purified with truth, the soul is purified with holy lessons and asceticism, intelligence with correct knowledge.
Hugging When Banyu Pinaruh
Penglukatan can be done in several places such as springs (Klebutan), Campuhan (meeting of rivers and seas), Beach, Merajan. Penglukatan itself can be carried out by Pandita, Pinandita / Stakeholders, or done directly to springs such as Klebutan, Campuhan, or on the beach. The simplest Penglukatan Banten can use Canang sari or Pejati as a set of Piuning / proclamations in asking for holy water.
Drs. Nyoman Sujana said that when Banyu Pinaruh the people carried out the holy ritual, they bathed and washed their hair using Kumkuman water immediately. The activity aims to melt the mala. "Segara is a melting pot for the Dasa mala. By carrying out the procession, it is hoped that there will be a balance of inner and outer, "he said.
In addition to the places mentioned above, if you don't have time, you can also do it at home. All of this is justified by the teachings of Hinduism as stated in the book on the unity of interpretation of aspects of Hinduism I-XI.
So it can be concluded that Rahina Banyu Pinaruh is a good day, a day where we ask for the water of knowledge to cleanse the impurities or darkness of mind (avidya) inherent in the body of the people. As stated in the Bhagavad Gita IV.36, which reads:
Api ced asi papebhyah, sarwabheyah papa krt tamah, sarwa jnana peavenaiva vrijinam santarisyasi
Meaning: even though you are the most sinful among humans who have sinned, with the boat of knowledge, you will be able to cross the sea of sin.
According to Ida Pandita Mpu Jaya, Acharya Nanda in the Bali.com Tribune, explaining that the day after celebrating the Saraswati Holy Day, Hindus in Bali usually carry out a Melukat procession or bathe in a sacred or fresh bath (sea). The procession is usually closed by eating Dira rice or yellow rice. However, before eating with the family, the rice is first offered to each Pelinggih in the Sanggah/Merajan or other places in the house area. What do these three things mean? Why does Saraswati always do not escape from Banyu Pinaruh and Nasi Dira?
When talking about ceremonies and holy days, our understanding cannot be separated from the instruments of space and time. Where there is space and time, there is matter. But we must understand, the material in ceremonies and holy days is in the form of meaning or symbols
