Indihome customers will get compensation
The state-owned company, Telkom Group, claims that it will compensate IndiHome consumers due to disrupted internet services since Sunday (19/9).
Vice President of Marketing Management Telkom Edie Kurniawan explained that the compensation provisions refer to Indihome's contracts with customers.
Edie explained that the compensation is in the form of delaying the payment period from each customer, until September 25, 2021. In addition, there is also a whitening of fines for late payments for internet services. What will automatically apply is the postponement of the payment period until September 25, 2021, and the abolition of late payment penalties, "said Edie. Kurniawan.
To find out the compensation given, Edie said customers can come directly to the nearest Telkom service center.
"Compensation provisions refer to the subscription contract and can come at the nearest Telkom Plaza," he explained.
Previously, many netizens complained about IndiHome's internet connection which was still having problems on the fifth day after the JaSuKa cable broke. They also demanded compensation from Telkom. He further explained that the repair of the Jasuka submarine cable installation (Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan) was considered to have nothing to do with the restoration of internet services. This is because Telkom has a backup network line (Back uplink) both in Batam and Manado.
"So, with the routing network (network route diversion) it can return to normal," he said.
Edie explained that with the restoration of internet services, his party had shifted the frequency and priority of services for users to learn from home (LFH) and work from home (WFH).
"The recovery on 20 [September] morning has been carried out by diverting routing and service priorities for LFH and WFH in particular so that customers who are in the Mid Test can continue smoothly," he concluded.
Jasuka Marine Cable
Getting to know the Jasuka Marine Cable Internet Source Indihome DownTelkom Group stated that IndiHome's internet disruption last weekend was due to problems with the Jasuka submarine cable system. The Jasuka submarine cable is an optical fiber that stretches for 10,860 kilometers connecting Bandar Lampung, Batam, Baturaja, Dumai, Jakarta, Jambi, Medan, Padang, Palembang, Pekanbaru, Pontianak, Rantu Prapat, Sibolga, Tanjung Pakis, Tanjung Pandan, Tebing Tinggi, and Bandar Bukit Tinggi in Malaysia. Telkom's VP of Corporate Communication, Pujo Pramono, said that the JaSuKa cable that had a problem last weekend was on the Batam - Pontianak section. Based on identification, the disturbance originated from a point about 1.5 kilometers (km) off the coast of Batam at a depth of 20 meters below sea level.
