Bill Gates Until Rockefeller Suddenly 'Letter' Jokowi
Dozens of social foundations belonging to global tycoons, including the Rockefeller Foundation and the Bill Gates Foundation, have been writing letters to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
The news was conveyed directly by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, after meeting President Jokowi on Tuesday night, (18/1/2022).
"There are dozens of large world foundations. For example, Rockefeller, Bill Gates, all of them wrote letters to the President, I was given a copy last night," said Luhut, Wednesday (1/19/2022).
So, what is the content of the letter from the founders of the leading foundation to Jokowi?
Luhut said the contents of the letter were asking Jokowi for permission to gather in Bali in April 2022. They intend to hold an event to help Indonesia in dealing with climate change.
"The president asked me last night, 'Mr. Luhut, why did they come?', 'I don't know either, sir'. But they asked if the President was willing to meet them later," said Luhut, imitating his conversation with Jokowi.
Jokowi said Luhut, also expressed his willingness to attend. Moreover, the event not only discussed the issue of climate change but also related to plastic waste, and efforts to help national MSMEs.
"If there are MSMEs, I'm ready, Mr. Luhut. One, two days is okay. So you can imagine the attention of the President, and the attention of the world," said Luhut. on December 1. Although the organizers of this G-20 forum take turns, the trust of all members of this prestigious forum in Indonesia is indirectly a form of appreciation.
It is common knowledge that the countries that are members of this forum control 85% of the world's GDP. Indonesia is the only ASEAN member country of the G-20 or what is often called "The Only Global Premier Economic Forum" representing the world economy.
Indonesia's position is said to be very strategic because it can strengthen its leadership position in the region and especially become a bridge for the collective voices of other ASEAN countries.
From Italy, Jokowi, accompanied by several ministers, left for Glasgow, Scotland, for the 26th Conference of the Parties Climate Summit or COP-26 World Leader Summit, on 1-2 November 2021. The summit, which was initiated by the United Nations and hosted by England, presented 120 world leaders. Once again the presence of Indonesia is very meaningful, especially for the organizers. How could I not, the big and influential countries in climate change, China and Brazil, were not present.
World environmental experts say China is responsible for more than a quarter of global emissions. While Brazil is the owner of the largest tropical rain forest in the world, namely the Amazon covering an area of 6 million square kilometers.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro did not give a reason for his absence at COP-26. He prefers to visit a city in Italy that will grant him honorary citizenship.
Another major country that was absent was Russia. President Vladimir Putin said he was not present because of the pandemic.
The commitment and real efforts of these countries are needed at this COP-26 forum to prevent climate change due to global warming. Forest owners as the lungs of the world must prevent deforestation while industrialized countries turn to non-fossil fuels.
Indonesia has consistently demonstrated its commitment to saving the earth with real efforts. One of them is being present at the summit. You can imagine if Indonesia, the country with the second-largest tropical rainforest in the world after Brazil, would also not attend. The implementation of COP-26 can be considered unattractive due to the absence of major countries.
President Jokowi's presence at COP-26 as a symbol of his firm commitment to commitment is one thing. Another more essential thing is how Indonesia prevents deforestation and forest fires, reforestation, including mangrove planting, as well as towards new and renewable energy.

Finally, the President and his entourage flew to the Middle East, specifically the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a visit from November 3-5, 2021. Jokowi held a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi, and the Prime Minister (PM) who is also the Emir of Dubai Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
At this meeting, appreciation was addressed to President Jokowi, marked by the presence of street names and mosques using his name.
Indonesian View
At the G-20 Summit in Rome, President Jokowi conveyed Indonesia's views on three main agendas, namely the global economy and health, climate change and the environment, and sustainable development.
The G-20 Summit produced declaration texts from country leaders containing global issues that described the world economy.
