Not only Avanza-Xenia, this is a car in Indonesia with a 1NR-VE engine
As we know, part of Daihatsu's ownership is already owned by Toyota. That way, don't be surprised if the two brands of the Land of the Rising Sun have the same product, both models and machines.
In addition to the 2NR-VE, the mechanical heart of the two manufacturers that is quite popularly used in some of their products is the 1NR-VE. The ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) engine with multi-point injection which also has variable valves for both camshafts has a stubborn character, is fuel efficient and easy to maintain.
Specifically, the compact engine featuring Dual VVT-i technology has a 4 cylinder inline configuration, 16 valve DOHC with a capacity of 1,329 cc. As the successor to the K3-VE engine, the 1NR-VE has a different piston design that is smaller and lighter than the K3-VE. The engine with dual VVT-i technology is designed with a smaller contact area and uses carbon ceramide, an advanced material commonly used in Formula One engineering to reduce friction when the engine is running. In addition, this engine is also equipped with cooled exhaust gas recirculation to reduce pumping losses. and reduce NOx emissions.

1. Toyota Avanza
The third generation Toyota Avanza with the DNGA platform uses the 1NR-VE engine for the E manual and CVT variants. In the new model this engine is placed transverse (transversely) which indicates that the engine rotation is then directed to the front wheel drive.
Actually the 1NR-VE engine for this car has been used in the first facelift in the second generation which has the nickname Grand Avanza. In the 2022 Toyota Avanza, the 1NR-VE mechanical heart with a capacity of 1,329 cc, 4 cylinders in line with 16 valve DOHC Dual VVT-i used is capable of bursting power up to 97.9 PS @ 6,000 rpm and 121 Nm of torque @ 4,200 rpm.
2. Daihatsu Xenia
If the Avanza 1NR-VE engine is present in the lowest variant, E, in the Daihatsu Xenia this engine is used in the M, X and R variants. Looking at the specifications, the power and torque produced by the Xenia 1.3L are the same as the Avanza.
On paper, the 1NR-VE 4 cylinder 16 valve DOHC Dual VVT-i engine with a capacity of 1,329 cc is capable of squeezing power of 97.9 PS @ 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 121 Nm @ 4,200 rpm.
With the 1NR-VE engine, Daihatsu Xenia has better performance, responsiveness, smoother acceleration, and more efficient use of fuel than the previous generation. This is because Xenia comes with a choice of CVT transmission which is equipped with a new split gear.
That way the gear ratio is wider so as to create powerful and smooth acceleration in every gear shift automatically. In addition to the CVT transmission, this car also comes with a 5-speed manual transmission option.
3. Daihatsu Sirion
The latest model Daihatsu Sirion was launched in Indonesia in June 2022. Just like the previous generation, this compact city car relies on a 1NR-VE engine, DOHC Dual VVT-i, 4-cylinder inline with a capacity of 1,329 cc.
Regarding the performance, the power is at 95 PS @ 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 121 Nm @ 4,200 rpm. For the level of acceleration, in this facelift version ADM only offers a D-CVT transmission to replace the previous 4-speed conventional automatic transmission.
The car, which is named the Perodua Myvi in neighboring countries, for the D-CVT transmission used has the ability to change the gear ratio according to engine speed, which can provide a smoother driving sensation when changing speeds.
Additionally, with this technology the gear ratio range has also been extended on the low and high sides, allowing for powerful and smooth acceleration at low speeds, as well as fuel-efficient and quiet performance at high speeds.
